For tanz nrw 21, Ben J. Riepe’s work “CREATURE” is being created in cooperation with Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch in a new and – due to the given situation – virtual version. The parkour composed of performance, reminiscence episodes and rituals filmed at the Schauspielhaus Wuppertal will be newly developed with dancers from the Ben J. Riepe team and the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch. Originating out of the rehearsal process for Ben J. Riepe’s production “GESCHÖPFE”, the work deals with “which memories from the world we come from accompany us in this turn of time, this transformation process, and what we perhaps also have to say goodbye to in order to approach the question, what communities and new alliances we can and must form in the light of this crisis”. Supported by the Ministry for Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, the Cultural Department of the City of Düsseldorf, the Kunststiftung NRW, Fonds Darstellende Künste, BTHVN 2020 with funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media, the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, the RhineSieg District and the City of Bonn.
