After "Love, Death and Devil" in 2008/09 the Duesseldorf-based choreographer Ben J. Riepe and his ensemble now present "Hundstage", a new piece for seven performers.
What remains, when the real presents itself in all its artificiality? When the cynical distance to the world loses its protective smile?
Characters wander across tableaus of a chaotic world in a melancholic search. The tragically concrete is broken by irony, eroticism reveals its violence. The real simulates itself and love is being consumed by its seemingly impossibility.
With a joy for escalation and for the play of aesthetic form Ben J. Riepe creates complex arrangements, which are defined by precise choreographic thinking about space, time and movement on the one hand, and by the individual improvisational creativity of the performers on the other.
A production by Ben J. Riepe, coproduced by: tanzhaus nrw, Düsseldorf, House of Artists Mousonturm, Frankfurt/Main, Station Zuid, Tilburg/NL. Support: Ministerpräsident des Landes NRW, the National Performance Network with funding provided by the German Federal Cultural Foundation, Kunststiftung NRW, Kulturamt der Landeshauptstadt Düsseldorf,, Kunst- und Kulturstiftung der Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf.
